Shadows of Another Day | Video Art
This video explores the relationship between shadows, identity, and time.
An analog slide projector casts light onto the artist’s back, creating her silhouette on a translucent white fabric. The camera, positioned on the opposite side,
captures the subtle, slow movements of the shadow
The shadow is a form of self-expression that creates tension between viewer and figure. Initially, the shadow stands before the viewer as a dark, anonymous portrait. Yet, as the viewer approaches closely and peers through the fabric, they discover the artist herself looking back, forming a direct, personal connection.
The series of shadow silhouettes illustrates the artist’s evolving identity, "I am different yet the same person every day."
Inspiration | My Live Performance
This work draws inspiration from my earlier live performance. In that performance, viewers initially perceived the shadow as a pre-recorded projection, only to discover the artist physically standing behind the fabric. This unexpected revelation created surprise, heightened curiosity, and intensified intimacy between viewer and artist.
Being physically present was essential, enabling active engagement with the viewers’ experiences in real-time.
